6 Reasons to Attend ISH - The World's Most Amazing PHC Show

Join the Service Roundtable's Matt Michel, David Heimer, Bob Viering, "HVAC Spells Wealth" author Ron Smith, and Contractor Magazine and Contracting Business Magazine's Bob Mader and Dan Ashendan at the world's largest Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, and Electrical trade show in Frankfurt, Germany this March. Here are six reasons to come along.

1. You will see products that haven't made it to the states yet.

As Bob Mader said, "Youíll see products that you canít find over here and some that you may have never imagined ó programmable faucets with LED lighting, inverter drive air-to-water heat pumps than run on CO2, a bathtub that looks like a shoe, or a residential wall-hung combined heat and power unit with a Stirling Cycle generator topped by a mod-con boiler."

"ISH is the place to go to see products that make it over to the States two years later."

Is Europe ahead of us? No. But this show is the place where exhibitors from every continent display what's up and coming. And when it comes to energy and water conservation, the Europeans really are ahead of us thanks to sky high utility costs. It's true that necessity is the mother of invention.

2. Hang out with industry thought leaders.

We'll meet in the morning for breakfast. Bob Mader will review the things we will see and what you want to see and be our host at the show. Late afternoon, we adjourn to a different tavern to debrief on what we saw and the state of the industry. If you've never spent intimate time with Ron Smith in a setting like this, that alone is worth the price of admission.

3. It's the most amazing trade show in our industry.

You may think AHR is big. You may think the Pumper show is big. They are not. ISH is three times the size of the Pumper show, four times the size of AHR, and twelve times the size of Comfortech. It's not just that it's big. It's elaborate. It's incredible. The effort and expense put into constructing the show booths has to be seen. Most have full kitchens and bars. For our professions, this is a bucket list event.

4. It's in Germany.

Simply visiting another country gives you a different perspective. It changes the way you look at things. Coming for a business event is a different experience than coming as a tourist.

Don't worry about language issues. English is the language of business and Frankfurt is a business city. It's the home of the European Central Bank. Just about everyone you will encounter will know some English and welcome the opportunity to practice it. You can still buy a phrase book.

5. Bring your spouse.

The Service Roundtable team is bringing their wives. After the first day of the show, they will grab anyone who doesn't want to spend time at the show and explore Frankfurt.

6. If you pass this up, you will regret it.

ISH isn't held every year. Who knows if you will ever get a chance to return. Take advantage of the opportunity to see the show.

Attending the show is more expensive than attending a show in the states, but it's not as much as you think. We have a block of rooms at the Frankfurt Marriott, located next to the show. We will invoice you at cost. If you would like to attend, contact Janet Thomasson at 877.262.3341 ( You will need a passport, but you still have time to get one.

Join us. You won't regret it.
