Boot Camp
HVAC and Plumbing | June 5-8, 2018

Why Boot Camp?

One of the most valuable programs available to Service Nation Alliance members is our 4-Day Business Boot Camp. It was created to help you get started with many of the Service Nation Alliance programs, and to introduce you to our Business Format. It's also a way to get to know our staff, and to meet other contractors and coaches who can help you continue to improve your business.

This 4-day class is beneficial for anyone who attends, whether it's the business owner, GM, service manager, bookkeeper or any other staff member. Everyone comes away overflowing with ideas and plans to improve their businesses, their lives, the culture of their company and the experience of their customers.

It may be hard to believe that one class can deliver so much, but it's true. These are just a few of the quotes we've received from prior attendees:

"Incredible amount of information delivered in a short time in an easy to understand format."
Kate Mahoney, Royal Air Systems, Inc.

"The material covered is all relevant to things we are either working on now or need to work on. Breaks and events after hours helped keep me fresh and focused and helped developed relationships with other contractors. The different speakers always made things new with different angles and perspectives."
Mary Jo Villafania, Advanced Heating and Cooling

"Being a Service Manager, this was extremely eye-opening in regards to just how much truly goes into running our company."
Andrew Hall, McWilliams and Son

Learn the SNA Business Format

At Boot Camp you'll be introduced to the Service Nation Alliance Business Format. It was developed by some of the top minds in the industry and enhanced with best practices from top companies around the world. There's nothing you're required to implement, but you can pick and choose from an abundance of ideas and processes that will have a huge impact on your company.

You'll also be briefed on all the programs available to you as a Service Nation Alliance member. If you haven't been paying attention, there's probably a lot you don't know about, and maybe even more you've forgotten. You may be overlooking some programs that could be helping you right now!

While the content may vary in some ways from one class to the next, we typically cover each of these topics:

Life Design
A new look at goal setting and work/life balance that gets everyone focused on what's most important for each attendee, and how to achieve it.

Business Design
This session will teach you how to build your business in a way that fulfills the needs of your customers, your employees, and most importantly, you.

Financial
There's no better place to learn how to interpret your company's financial reports and use them strategically to improve and grow your business.

Marketing
Brand. Branding. Marketing. Advertising. What's the difference? You'll find out here along with how to enhance all those things. Learn who your customer is, what she wants, and how to reach her.

Management Systems
This session will teach you how the best companies operate in any number of areas including sales management, dispatching, recruiting and hiring, and so much more.

Management Coaching and Leadership
Learn how to become a better leader and how to manage the challenges of working with the unique personalities of each of your employees.

Meet the trainers

Boot Camp is one event we insist on presenting ourselves. While we may bring in a guest presenter for a short segment from time to time, each main session is conducted by a Service Nation Alliance staff member. Each one is willing to help you however they can, and is usually available to chat one-on-one throughout the week. You can expect to hear from most of these experts:

Matt Michel, President

David Heimer, Senior Vice President

Liz Patrick, VP Strategic Alliances

Sarah Blackhall, Art Director

Vicki LaPlant, Business Coach

John LaPlant, Business Coach

Ben Stark, Business Coach

Bob Viering, VP Programs

You'll build lifelong relationships with staff and attendees

Whether you're the outgoing life-of-the-party, or the quiet and reserved observer, we make it easy for you to learn from everyone in the class. We don't force you to take part in any awkward or embarrassing exercises in front of the crowd, but we do provide you with several opportunities (in and out of the classroom) to meet and connect with all the like-minded business people who have gathered from around the continent and beyond!

It's not all hard work when you come to Boot Camp. Here's how we help you relax:

Tuesday Night Culinary Competition
Anyone can make salsa and margaritas, right? The question is, can your team make it better and more appealing than all the others? This friendly competition is exciting and fun and always full of surprises (and not devoid of controversy!). You might encounter some singing cowboys, choreographed dancing, or even a protest march or two. And don't forget the open bar!

Wednesday Night in Dallas
Since Boot Camp is conducted right smack in the middle of Dallas and Fort Worth, we thought we'd take you out on the town. Destinations may vary, but we usually take a bus over near downtown Dallas where you can dine and drink and take in the panoramic views! OK, full disclosure - the views aren't all that panoramic. But the trip is always fun and you'll have lots of choices for a Texas dinner. We might even take a ride by the Grassy Knoll (if the bus driver doesn't get lost!).

Thursday Night in Ft. Worth
Another bus, another city. This time we go to Cowtown (or Panther City to some enlightened Boot Campers). We'll drop you off in the historic Stockyards to take in the authentic western atmosphere. If you like steak, this is the place to be. But that's not all you'll find. There's plenty more to choose from at an assortment of nearby restaurants. Just watch out for those longhorns on Exchange Ave.!

"Hearing the many ideas and perspectives was extremely valuable and challenging.
David Binder, Speedy Air Conditioning Service

"It helps to laser focus on areas that need improvement and ways to achieve it."
Joseph Sala, Sala Air Conditioning

"The presentations, format, and materials were all very well done. I will attend again."
Paul Gilden, Master Electric

Come alone, or bring a friend (or 3!)

What's better than coming to Boot Camp? Coming with some of your co-workers.

Feel free to bring anyone you think would benefit from this unique training. We typically limit you to 4 people per class, but if you need extra seats, just let us know.

Many of our members have attended Boot Camp 2 or 3 times. Each time they come they pick up something new, and make more connections that can sometimes be more important than the training they receive. There's never a cost, no matter how many times you come or how many people you send.

When? Where? What's included?

The Boot Camp takes place in Texas, right off the runway at DFW International Airport at the Thryv Hotel & Conference Center. Classes run from 8am to 5pm from Tuesday through Thursday, and from 8am to 3pm on Friday. We take lots of breaks to keep you fresh. While 4 days may seem like a long time to spend in a classroom, but most attendees come away wishing it was a longer.

The hotel provides a shuttle to and from DFW Airport at no cost. They can also drop you off at nearby stores and restaurants if necessary. You'll need to register for hotel rooms separately from the event registration. Look in the upper left-hand corner of this page for details.

We'll provide breakfast (continental) and lunch each day. The facility provides free Wi-fi.

Dress is business casual. Jeans are ok. The training room can get cold so bring a sweater. If you plan on going to Dallas and/or Ft. Worth with us, feel free to change into something casual. Temperatures can vary greatly by season, so be prepared!

Let's get started!

If you're ready to sign up, just hit the "Register Now" button and fill out the short form. Remember to include shirt sizes for any attendees. Each one will receive a Service Nation Alliance polo.
